Mono County is open for businessPeople from larger metropolitan areas are finding out that Mono County is business friendly. Supporting services include affordable utilities, entertainment, restaurants, brew pubs, outdoor guides, and a booming tourist and vacation rental market. There is more excitement about the future of Mono County business than locals have witnessed in more than 20 years.

Lee Vining

Located on the shore of Mono Lake, 11 miles north of June Lake, Lee Vining is a good place to live, work and play. Minutes away from Tioga Pass and access to Yosemite National Park, Lee Vining has a real estate inventory of quaint homes, modest tracts of land and shoreline properties. Lee Vining has land for sale, including small parcels and larger parcels between 20 and 40 acres.

Lee Vining has become an attractive tourist hub, with plenty of nearby camping, fishing, hiking and backcountry skiing. This eastern sierra community has good schools, small class sizes and a tranquil all its own. And if you’re from the big city, you’ll appreciate the afternoon rush hour in Lee Vining.

Bridgeport

The town itself may be small, but the land and surrounding alpine lakes, rugged backcountry and beautiful meadows make Bridgeport an ideal place to live, work and play. At the crossroads of Hwy 395 and Hwy 182, this area is ripe with real estate opportunities including homes, ranches, lakefront properties, vacation rentals and commercial.

Bridgeport is the county seat of Mono County. Annually visited by thousands of tourists who come for its well-known trout streams, lakes and Yosemite National Park, the community has a variety of service companies to accommodate visitors looking for clean air and a healthy lifestyle. It even has an airport and nearby Bodie State Park. These are some of the reasons many from outside the area look at Bridgeport to purchase a second home. Here’s a short tour by some recent visitors to Bridgeport.

Twin Lakes

Only 14 miles west of Bridgeport, Twin Lakes is an old-fashioned summer resort town. Because of the seasonal access to this resort town, real estate in Twin Lakes can be higher in value than its closest neighbor. The community offers both residential real estate as well as U.S. Forest Service properties. Twin Lakes has the unique distinction of being one of the only places in Mono County where you can purchase lakefront land and homes without a lease with the Forest Service. Many families come here to enjoy the entire summer and early fall.

Mono City

Mono City offers some of the most affordable residential real estate in all of Mono County. This high desert community overlooks Mono Lake, and is unique to the region because it is generally warmer and gets a little more sunshine. Because Mono City enjoys consistent sun exposure, residents may grow gardens and harvest crops all year long.

The town is found north of Lee Vining along Highway 395. The 7 mile drive from Lee Vining to Mono City passes awe inspiring Mono Lake, which can turn colors with the weather due for its saline soda content. The small town is home for part of the year to around two million birds who eat and rest on the protected islands on the lake. This isn’t a traditional resort town and most residents live year round. Mono City residents look out for one another, and are community minded.

June Lake

With a thriving tourist industry in one of the most scenic settings of the eastern sierras, June Lake has seen lots of interest from people looking for affordable real estate. Homes, condos, cabins and commercial property are available in and around June Lake, and nearby Silver Lake and Gull Lake.

Located on the June Lake Loop on Hwy 158, the town features June Mountain Ski Resort in the winter, and surrounding mountain trails and alpine lakes for summer and fall. June Lake may be best known for its tremendous trout fishing, scenery and vacation rentals. But commercial development is beginning to take hold too, and the locals are excited. Many real estate transactions have begun at the local brew pub, which is expanding into nearby commercial holdings as well. June Lake has something to offer every walk of life.

Mammoth Lakes

Many residents of Mammoth Lakes first spent a season or two and ended up falling in love with the active lifestyle of everyday life.
Probably the most well-known town in Mono County, Mammoth is also the largest town Mono County. There are many reasons this town has real estate opportunities for buyers and sellers.

Mammoth Lakes’ resident population of 7,700 represents 56 percent of Mono County population. The area has nearly 5,500 jobs and real-per-capita taxable sales have shown strong growth that significantly exceed California’s. This growth is due to the quality of life that attracts businesses and residents who purchase real estate, including single and multi-family homes, commercial, condos, timeshares, and vacation rentals. From multi-million dollar mansions to small residential real estate, Mammoth Lakes offers a wide range of real estate.

Would you like to settle down in a small town with two golf courses and its own ski resort? Does spending quality time at a fishing cabin sound appealing? What about hiking, cycling, mountain biking, rock climbing, fly-fishing, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country, and the best running routes?
