Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain Combined Ownership
One of several positives for economic growth in Mammoth Lakes and June Lake Real Estate is the recent purchase of Mammoth Mountain and June Mountain ski resorts. Both resorts plus Bear Mountain and Snow Summit were purchased by Aspen Skiing Company and KSL Capitol Partners in 2017. The new owners and management expect this consolidation of June Mountain and Mammoth Mountain to continue making Mono County the leading provider of winter and summer mountain experiences for all of Southern California.
Updated Local News from Don Morton (8/30/17)
Don Morton who owns June Lake Accommodations, along with his wife Lynn Morton, reports that June Lake Brewery recently purchased the building they currently occupy. They also purchased the General Store and Trout Town Joe. The brewery owners are preparing to construct a larger state-of-the-art brewery, replace the General Store and provide a new location for Trout Town Joe. The brewery is a newer business that has become very successful and is leading the way to encourage new interest in June Lake.
Don also reports that new owners of another large piece of commercial property have plans to demolish outdated older buildings and build a new retail store front, a new restaurant and office space. Don says these developments point to an exciting future for business growth and real estate opportunity along the June Lake Loop, State Hwy 158.
According to Don, June Lake now has a significant population of youngsters under the age of 10, because young families are coming to June Lake to raise their kids. This has helped drive home purchases along the Loop, and the new June Lake Family Child Care scheduled to open this fall in 2017 is evidence.
In short, there is more excitement about the future of the June Lake Loop than locals have witnessed in more than 20 years, says Don, who serves on the local Mono County Fisheries Commission.
